Dog Lit

All the books about dogs, that Arrow has been chewing, are the same. Sure, they're tasty, but THE DOGS ALWAYS DIE! One minute I am reading, laughing and smiling, and then tears are streaming down my fur.

Marley and Me was very funny. That dog did the most amazing bad things. A really great animal. Made me proud to be a dog. But all I did was cry at the end.

Then I read Dog Years. It was about two dogs. Two different dogs. What they did, the places they went, and all the things they taught their owner. And of course, TWO DEAD DOGS by the time the book was done.

And there was Sight Hound. The dog even wrote the best chapters himself. Great book. But you can guess what happens.

Can’t a human write a book about a dog BEFORE it’s dead? I am afraid to read another one. Too much grief. The ashes, the burials, the last breaths. Now I'm crying again.

P.S. Maybe this will cheer you up. LOL Dogs!

Hi, Deefor
You are so right! As you know Holly sent me Marley and Me, and of course I laughed with all the things he did and at the end I was crying and crying!
Lets hope the next we read has a different end. We know what happens after many years but why the authors don't give us another way to end those stories??
Have a good night

We have the same problem in our house. Me, I'm not much of a reader, but Mommy likes it a lot. And the other day she watched a movie called "The Year of the Dog." Just like all those stupid sad dog books, the dog died. But this time he died at the beginning and then the woman's life just went all to hell! It was very very sad!

Oh man, my mommy read the Marley & Me book too & she cried till her eyeballs almost popped out her sockets! But she didn't read from beginning till end. She couldn't wait to know what happened at the end & so she skipped & read the part when Marley died. Geez! I don't think I wanna read any sad story books or else I will cry like a baby too!

Hmmm--maybe they should write one in which the HUMAN dies? I bet they never think of THAT. Because they're hu-mans.

Hi Deefor..

is so true that every dog books will only bring u to the sad part.. but that is dog life.. we live, we play, we create history.. we give happiness, laughters.. then we will need to say good bye... is hard as it seems.. but we will forever in our owners heart.. always..

Hi Deefor - you look so smart with those glasses on. My mom has vowed not to read those sad dog books anymore...she just reads ones that tell her how to train me - which means lots of treats for meeeee!!

And yahoo for those Rockies!! My people have been staying up late watching the games but I just can't stay awake that late!!!!!
Mom says she's gonna attempt to get World Series tickets, along with billion other people - I say good luck lady!!!
