July 4th Weekend

I’m so behind. Just getting around to July 4th. We were in mountains and we could see fireworks from our deck.

Arrow thought that was great. Arrow stayed on the lap outside. he is such a kiss-nose.

I decided to go inside and get through it on the couch. It wasn't too long.

Don't tell! I learned how to open the power windows. I like to see what’s going on.

And feel the wind in my ears.

On the way home, we stopped at a big doggie park with lots of trees and trails. The picture is about the only place without trees but my mom was so busy wondering where Arrow was that she forgot to take pictures. We met some nice doggies and ran around a lot.

My mom was visiting some family in Seattle. I missed her a lot. She gives more treats on walkies. The bearded one forgets. (But he’s shares his people food) Now she’s back.

This is who she was visiting. Cute. My mom's his grandma.

Arrow got something wrong with his eye. Yesterday he went to the vet in our ambulance. He likes going to the vet cause he can say hello to lots of doggie butts there. He got some medicine and his eye is looking better already.

HUMANS WITH BLOGS
These are some blogs my mom likes even if they aren’t written by doggies. She really likes the pictures of dogs best.

Ken Foster wrote The Dogs Who Found Me and Dogs I Have Met. Both books my mom likes. He and his friends help lots of doggies. Especially pit bulls.
We have his calendar in our kitchen! That’s from The Sula Foundation which helps pit bulls find forever homes.

Jon Katz writes books about dogs too. He lives on a farm in Vermont with sheep and donkeys and other animals. And some really smart doggies. My mom likes his books too. (And Arrow ate one.) He has lots of pictures on his blog.

Some doggie books my mom likes. Warning: A lot of these books are more about humans than dogs.

Merle’s Door by Ted Kerasote
Pack of Two by Caroline Knapp
Dog Years: A Memoir by Mark Doty
A Dog Year by Jon Katz
Puppy Chow is Better than Prozac by Bruce Goldstein

If your humans have some websites or books to add-- I'll make sure my mom adds them.

Swim

Today we went for a swim. I love running around in the park. It’s the Witness Protection Doggie Park. We got in trouble in some of the others, but they don’t know us here.

Arrow said hello to a nice brown doggie.

And I did too.

Arrow introduced me to a cute little shih-tzu named Max.

Arrow can be very annoying. Max was too polite to tell Arrow off.

And in the end. Failure. Growlure. Shame. Back on the leash while Arrow frolicked with the big guy.

Arrow the Sun Worshipper

I decided to blog for Deefor. He just sleeps all day. That's the real reason he doesn't blog much.

I love to sit in the sun. Even inside.

We have no yard. I’ve escaped a few times so the humans fenced in the balcony. Nothing like a little chicken wire to spruce up the place.

And a baby gate blocking the stairs. I think I could get over it. If I really wanted to.

I like to relax and work on my tan out here. I listen to the birds. Sometimes I bark at stuff.

And when it gets too hot, I cool off my chin on the step.

Issues

I always wanted to be a therapy doggie. I could cheer people up by licking them. And I wouldn’t bite them unless they have wire brushes. (Arrow's smirking cause he doesn't get pulled around by the nose.)

Instead I’m in therapy. For growling and biting people with wire brushes, and other things like attacking nice big doggies and nipping at a little boy. (I’m sorry)

I have group therapy early in the morning at the dessert doggie park. It’s mostly sand and it smells delicious. We drive there almost every day. Most of the time I am charming and cordial to all the doggies I meet. A real gentledog. Some are my friends now.

Arrow comes along. I even let him sit with me—sometimes. Maybe I’m being TOO nice.

Hi

Now that my humans have (finally) put away their snowboards, maybe I can some computer time. This break wasn't my idea. I was mostly sleeping the winter away. Or wrestling with Arrow.

video

In spring (maybe year round) a young dog's fancy turns to thoughts of what else he can destroy.

He tried recycling and got tangled up in a bag.

He's got a new chew toy that he thinks is delicious.

And he told me wicker is very tasty. My mom got really mad about her shoe situation. Sandals are his favorite. I can't even show you what he did. She buried them in the dumpster and bought new ones. (After crying.)

Not much news. I go for walkies with a nose leash now cause I pulled my mom down on the ice. There's no more ice but the sadists I live with are addicted to pulling me around by the nose.

I'm gonna try to get back to visiting all my doggie bloggie friends. I missed you so much.

Keeping Busy

My mom felt bad that my life was so boring. Now my humans are taking me with them more. And letting me run around free sometimes.

I can run down the scary stairs now.

On weekends the humans are using this big pot to make the house smell yummy. It has stuff for me in it!

Bones make my eyes light up.

Arrow came to the mountains with us this weekend and my mom gave him some of this. (You notice there's a picture of a terriorist on it-- no offense to all my sane terrier friends. )

I think it’s working. He is so calm, he disappeared into the couch. Like a throw pillow.

Deefor's Depressed

Chewie gave me a very nice award. Thanks Chewie. I love the lady bugs. They remind me of Arrow at the doggie park! (Maybe I love him-- but not THAT way)

I have had a very boring time. My mom is very bad. She took Arrow to the doggie park and left me home!!

He came back tired and smelling like lots of doggie friends. Very unfair.

Me? I sleep a lot. I watch my fur grow back. I chew on old bones.

Sometimes I watch people fishing while my humans run around in the snow!

I put away groceries. But do you think my humans appreciate my help? HA! I need to put some excitement in my life. Any suggestions?
