Names

Please click the Shelter Challenge button and vote for Sula Foundation in New Orleans LA. They help lots of doggies who have no homes. Even if they're sick.

I just read about how Pippa got his name. Very good story.

Tony a.k.a. Deefor

When I adopted my family I had a different name. I was Tony in the shelter that took me in when I was lost.

My mom changed my name. That was OK. I didn’t feel like a Tony. She named me Deefor as in D for Dog. Maybe it should be Deefer cause that’s how you say it. Not DeeFOR like at the bath and torture place. When they call me that, I always look around for another doggie with a really weird name.

I have other names at home. Deefie. The Deef. Deefker.

Rufus a.k.a. Arrow

Arrow came from the same place I did. Someone found him running around on the highway. Trying to hitch a ride but he was too short. He has 9 or 10 lives at least. They called him Rufus.

My mom wanted to call him Woody and my bearded owner wanted to call him Pad Foot. Arrow didn’t like those names and ignored them. The only name they agreed on was Arrow. Now I think it fits him.
Oblio & Arrow
There was a famous cartoon doggie named Arrow and he had giant pointy ears. Just like Arrow. Only the cartoon doggie was smarter. (Sorry about the nudity)

Sometimes the bearded one calls him Arrows. But mostly he’s Arrow.

Those were good name stories! I think your parents chose good names. Sometimes it's a hard decision.

Hey Deefor,
I can't imagine you with any other name, you're so totally a Deefor! I didn't have a name at the SPCA, they just called me The Boston Boy, which made me feel dumb. I'm much happier being Murphy.

I think that you have great names. You certainly don't look like a Tony, Deefor. I was "Red Girl" when I was a puppy because I had a red collar. How boring was that.

Your friend,
Niamh (means sheen or luster in Irish)

Hi Deefor,
I definitely think Deefor suits you better than Tony. I think my name is pretty strange but I have gotten used to it. Mom wanted to name me 'Muffin' initially but dad didn't lilke it. Oh well, I think I like 'Huskee' better than 'Muffin' (although I like to EAT muffins.. heehee)..
As for Hershey, I think they should have named her 'Mistake' or something...

Deef"e"r & Arrow,

My mom usually chooses human names for all of us. The only one with a non-human name inside the house was Stinky and that's cause he must have been living in a dumpster when my mom found him! He also let out alot of stinky cat farts!

We like your "real" names of Deefor and Arrow much better. Those are great stories, and Arror does kinda look like that cartoon!

BLU won't tell anyone her old name (it must have been really bad!!) and the girl doesn't know because BLU followed the girl home one night and refused to leave. My old name was Anakin. I like Comet better.

Hi, Deefor...

When my Mom was waiting for me to be born...She said she was gonna name me "Baby Girl" - Now, that's a silly name...

Then all of a sudden she came up with Abby...She's happy she named me that instead...

Sometimes she calls me "Abbs" or "Sweety" or "Sweets"...She even calls me "Butzer" (accent on the "u") sometimes...Not sure what that means...

And I think your stories are cool and interesting too. I wondered about Deefor as well!

Names are funny aren't they?
