Hurricanes and BS (Breed Specific) Bans

My mom likes to read books about doggies. One favorite doggie author is Ken Foster. He wrote The Dogs Who Found Me and Dogs I Have Met.

He helps lots of homeless doggies especially pit bulls.

Arrow didn’t think the book tasted too good.

Poor Ken. He lived in New York City during 911. And in New Orleans when Katrina hit. He lives in New Orleans now. Arrow and me and my mom are hoping he and his doggies are all safe. You can read his blog here and find out how he is doing. And maybe say hello.

Mostly I learned about doggies that are called pit bulls from Ken. Here in Denver humans love doggies. All except pit bulls. They don’t let pit bulls live here. They are not sure what pit bulls are, so they have to look at the doggie and decide if he’s a pit bull. I’m sure glad I don’t look like a pit bull.

Forrest

Recently a very nice doggie named Forrest got out of his yard. (He says his brother dug a hole under the fence.) He came to Denver for the second time and the doggie police were going to kill him!! Just for looking like a doggie they don’t like. People who love doggies got very upset.

Finally the doggie police sent Forrest to a shelter in another state. Utah! They didn’t kill him but they didn’t let him go home. Here he is, saying goodbye.

They should punish the people who hurt doggies. Not the doggies and the people who love them.

oh Deefor, those are some wise words. we don't like humans who discriminate against certain dogs - specific breeds or mutts or even poodles. it's just WRONG.

our mom likes to read books about dogs too. we like that you told us about that book so now we're gonna tell our mom about it and she will read it too. we're gonna to visit Ken's blog too.

it makes us very very sad when humans are mean to dogs. grrrr...

woofs.

OMG... It is so so unfair!! This is discrimination and no one, not even doggies, should be subject to this unfair treatment!

That sure look like a pawsome book. I hope doggies of every breed get better treatment

This story about Forrest just made me cry. But I'm glad to know he's freed & once again, back wit his owner. I hate it when people discriminate another breed. It's just sad!

There is no such thing as a bad dog, just bad owners. Yet its the dogs that suffer, its so unfair.

Yowsa -
I wonder if Denver allows Rotties??
My mom once had a 160 lb. Rottweiler that she says was the sweetest dog she ever met!

Also - my first momma thinks my great-great-great grandpa may have had a little pit in him.

I will go visit your pals bloggy.
Thanks for telling us about him!

Thanks for the great post Deefor. My neighbor is a pit bull mix and we play together very nicely. Sure there are some pit bulls who are not nice because they have been bred or trained to be that way but it is the Deed not the Breed!

Niamh

That is so sad! Some pit bulls are scarey, but only the ones who are taught to be that way...any dog could be trained to be scary...

That's awefully sad that the human and dog had to leave eachother. It's worse than super smelly poop!

Slurp!

sometimes i think is unfortunate for a dog to be born as a pit bull... their breed are being typecast as 'bad'... how awful is that...they are juz innocent dogs

I'm sorry the book wasn't to Arrow's taste! :-)

I couldn't agree more with the last part of your post.

Hi, Deefor...

That doggie, Forrest, looks alot like Rosco...

Rosco has the best parents ever & they take really good care of him & teach him & love him...Rosco is the kindest doggie I know...He even shares his food with the kittie...

Someone once said, "Rosco has a heart as big as Texas" & they were right...

You are right, It's not the doggie, it's the people, for sure...

Well said, Deefor. There are many bad peoples out there and they can make any kind of doggie go crazy.
